HISTORY

The land for the hall was given to the village in 1909 by Mrs Luttrell of Yew Tree Farm and £200 was collected from the villagers for the building of the new reading room. Since then it has been well used by many organisations and today we have various clubs who use the hall regularly including the W.I. - Rainbows - Brownies - Guides - Over 50's keep fit - Gardening Club - Whist and Step Aerobics. It is a popular venue for parties, particularly for children from the local school.

LAYOUT OF THE HALL

The trustees who run the hall have, over the past few years, organised some very successful money raising events, including an Oriental Supper which was one of the most profitable yet! A photograph of the hall as it was set up for this event is pictured below. As you can see part of the hall is wood lined and the floor is newly resurfaced making a light and attractive setting. The kitchen, through the hatch on the left, has a roll down shutter, two electric cookers, a microwave and enough crockery for 90. The entrance is the white double door on the right.
